NYC property-tax payment help
The NYC Department of Finance offers payment-plan options. PT AID may let eligible owners defer taxes or make income-based payments. Deferral is not forgiveness; review interest, eligibility, repayment triggers and agreement terms directly with DOF.
Water debt and payment arrangements
Contact NYC DEP about payment agreements and available assistance. Water Debt Assistance Program eligibility and terms differ from ordinary payment plans. Review what becomes due on sale, refinancing or transfer, and the effect of signing an agreement. Ask about other assistance that may apply to your household.
A lien-sale or enforcement notice
Use the agency and deadline printed on the actual notice. Ask what action is required to resolve that notice and how you will receive confirmation. An application alone may not resolve enforcement. If you dispute the balance or face a sale, involve a qualified attorney promptly.
Who pays?
A payment plan usually changes when or how you pay; it is not someone else paying off the property. An exemption or credit, if approved, reduces eligible charges under its own rules. Ask the agency for your approved amount and remaining obligations before budgeting around assistance.
